Tanya Birk completed her studies at BIC Ljubljana, Gymnasium and Veterinary School in 2016, where she obtained the title of Veterinary Technician, and then enrolled at the Veterinary Faculty of the University of Ljubljana. In June 2024, she earned her Doctor of Veterinary Medicine degree and started working as a young researcher at the Small Animal Clinic in October 2024.
During high school and her university studies, she volunteered at a private veterinary clinic in Ljubljana and worked as a student technician at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty for five years. During her graduation internship, she participated in an Erasmus+ exchange program at the Veterinary Faculty of Ghent in Belgium, where she spent three months gaining experience in anesthesiology, surgery, internal medicine, oncology, orthopedics, neurology, and behavioral medicine of dogs and cats.
As part of her postgraduate studies in the interdisciplinary doctoral program of Biomedicine, she will be conducting research in the field of oncology for dogs and cats at the Oncology Department under the mentorship of Ass. Prof. dr. Urša Lampreht Tratar, DVM.
