Vladimira Erjavec graduated as a Doctor of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Ljubljana, Slovenia in 1999. After one year of internship at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana she continued with a multi-disciplinary postgraduate program in Biomedicine at the University of Ljubljana, focusing on research in the permeability of oral mucosa, while working as a veterinarian at the Small Animal Clinic of the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana. She was awarded her Master’s degree in 2003. The same year she continued with a multi-disciplinary PhD program in Biomedicine under the mentorship of Prof. Dr. Milan Petelin and Prof. Dr. Zlatko Pavlica, focusing on wound healing in the oral cavity. She was awarded her PhD in 2008.
Her knowledge in dentistry she was improving at the University of California-Davis, in England, under the mentorship of Dr. D. Crossley and in Sweeden. In 2005 she completed advanced veterinary dentistry course ESAVS European School for Advanced Veterinary Studies in Luxembourg. Vladimira Erjavec has worked as a veterinarian at the Small Animal Clinic at the Dentistry and oral surgery department of the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana all years until she was awarded her PhD, when she spread her working area to the small animal surgery. Vladimira Erjavec has been appointed as an Assistant Professor at the Veterinary Faculty, University of Ljubljana, Slovenia. She is author of research and professional papers, and a speaker and teacher. Beside her clinical work she is teaching small animal surgery.
